How to upgrade from 32 to 64 bit W10

You can not upgrade from 32 bit to 64 bit.
You require a clean install.

You can borrow or download a windows 7 64 bit install dvd and do a clean install with it.
Your old 32 bit activation code will work on such a change.
Then, you can do the free windows 10 upgrade to w10-64 bit.

If you have not converted to a ssd, this would be an opportune time.

How do i do this though? It just tells me that i can't upgrade from 32 bit to 64 bit?

You can't get the upgrade to windows 10 anymore. That was only for before the initial release of windows 10. Also, i meant how do i just clean install the OS? I dont care about losing data, i just want the OS.

Upgrade implies keeping your apps and settings.
no 32 bit to 64 bit upgrades are possible, apps would need to be reinstalled.

If you do not want to save anything, then a new install using 64 bit media is no issue.
The free windows 10 upgrade program as announced was good for a year, that ends July 1016.
Ask anybody who keeps getting that reminder taskbar message.
