Need to cancel partition shrinking

i wanted to divide my HDD which btw has my system on it to 2 partitions but it told me i need to shrink it first which i did but is taking a long time and i need my PC so can i cancel partition shrinking or do i have to go on
PS it doesn't show any loading screens or bars
