When I boot up, when it gets to the Asus page, where it has selections to go into boot, bios, reflashing bios and something else. It freezes right there quite a bit , it seems to have gotten worse as time go on. Couldn't boot up at all a couple hours ago. I'm using linux mint 17.2

Have you changed any bios settings before this began to happen? Did you make any hardware changes?
Try loading your bios defaults and see if there is any improvement. If it improves than reapply your current settings one by one until the issue shows up again.

I did load my bios defaults and it worked but now I can't get it to boot from my usb thubdrive. Well actually it did work once right after I set the Bios default settings back to the originals.

It seems as if the problem is in the bios settings then. Reset the defaults again and hold F8 when the post screen appears. This should allow you to select the boot device regardless of the bios settings. It only works for that boot, next time it will boot from your default device. Google the exact key to press for your mobo but F8 is a common one. You will also want to restore important settings like RAM timings since they will commonly default to a lower speed than they are rated for.
