I have a Gateway DX4380G-UW308 and I want to upgrade all of the parts necessary to have it run Fallout 4.

Specs:
Windows 8
AMD A6-5400k
1 TB Harddrive (don't know brand)
6GB DDR3 Memory (don't know brand or how its split up)
I don't know the motherboard either
I have added a r7-260x graphics card and upgraded the power supply to dx-520wps (520 watt)

I know that I am going to have to upgrade the ram to 8gb (I plan on just buying one 8gb stick) but what else do I need to upgrade?

I feel like I should upgrade my cpu but if I do that do I have to replace the motherboard and as a result have to buy a new copy of windows? Also will an r7-260x work for fallout 4? I'm only trying to run it efficiently on low-medium settings.

Thanks in advance!

Sorry if these questions are dumb, I am a teenager very new to pc builds.

Thanks for your response!! So do you think an r9 280 would work? Also, would that be compatible with the same slot the r7 is in right now? I would assume it is but I don't know anything about motherboards and pci slots. What graphics card would you recommend? Right now I have a budget of about $250 but I can hold off for little while and get $400 to spend on my computer (this $400 would include buying new ram though--the $250 does not)

First of all...Here are the minimum requirements to run Fall Out 4..
Phenom II X4 945 processor
Radeon HD 7870 graphics card
8 GB GD RAM
Win 7 64
DX 11
30 GB free hard drive space

So as you see, definitely you have to upgrade that memory from 6 GB to at least 8.....
As for your processor- the AMD A6-5400k, it is a little distance better than the Phenom II X4 945 processor which is the minimum required processor to run FO4.......
Looking at your graphics card, the Radeon HD 7870 graphics card which is the minimum required graphics card, the r7-260x you have is actually some distance behind which means that you definitely need a graphics card upgrade... [/quotemsg]
