so since gaming on my current pc makes me cry blood, i've been researching and had finally come up with a new pc build suitable for my budget, but im debating over wether i should go with an i3 4170 or fx 6300. with both of them on sale, i3 is 100 bucks and fx is 90 bucks, i dont know which to pick up. i already know that the fx would be a better option since its 6 core and that it can be overclocked but im not interested in overclocking. i really wanna go toward intel path since they consume less power and run cooler than amd. also i will not be doing any video editing or rendering or livestreaming. question is would i be able to play games like skyrim, borderlands, left for dead, shadow of mordor, bf4 and some free to play games with the i3 ? im happy to play games at 768p, mid settings and locked 30 fps since i ve been playing games in my laptop with the lowest settings possible and not even 30 fps. so which cpu should i go for? (note:my gpu choice is an asus gtx 960 2gb OC card)

Solution
The i3 is the better option. It will perform better, and ultimately be cheaper since you can use a cheaper motherboard with it. Cheap AM3+ motherboards are terrible.
the i3 beets the fx in many ways and there is almost always a better intel alternative at the moment then any specific amd chip. the i3 will do pretty well paired with a 960 on your build and you should get above 30 fps with max settings on most games with this build.
