So I just upgraded to a whole new rig. My old computer specs are
i5 3570k
Cooler master EVO 212 heat sink
MSI Mpower z77
8gb 1866 sniper ddr3
Asus DC II Gtx 670 FTW
750w corsair psu

My wife wants a gaming pc so I thought I could just upgrade the GPU and add 8gb ram to this rig and it's good to go. But could this rig run a 980 ti? If I wanted it to would I have to upgrade my CPU cooler to a corsair h100i liquid cooler and oc the CPU to 4.5ghz? Would that work? She will be playing at 1080p for the most part but she's starting to notice the difference between higher resolutions. So she may want higher res later. Any tips would be great.

Solution
yes. that would work with a 980 ti

a single 980 ti for 1440p would do a great job for 60hz monitor.
that evo 212 would work for atleast 4.2ghz stable

also you could consider a noctua NH-D14 for air cooling or NZXT Kraken X61 or h110i GT/GTX for 4.5ghz and above.
