Did I ruin my CPU and Mobo?

So this is my first build, and I'm also an idiot so I didn't realize that my 1151 mobo was different than my 1150 cpu. I started to close the cpu down, started to hear a little wrinkling noise, and started to investigate, and realized after reading around that I may have just heard $300 go down the toilet.

I know that my BEST case scenario is that I will need to buy one or the other, but I have a sinking feeling that I may need to buy both.

I've included pictures linked above just in case somebody can give me an eyeball test. If I did mess anything up, do companies usually help cover stuff like this with warranties, or is it considered to be something that's voids warranties?

As I said, I'm an idiot for not realizing the difference while purchasing, so I don't need reminders of my idiocy, m just looking for a course of action.

Even if you hadn't done any damage you would still need to purchase a new m/b or cpu. As far as I can tell, the only damage is to the m/b (which is good news, as it's probably the cheaper component). You could always enquire with the manufacturer/retailer about the possibility of warranty replacement (though I doubt it would be successful). The trouble is that you would still have incompatible components.

You could always try selling the m/b on eBay; someone might buy it on the chance that they could straighten the pins without breaking any.

Yeah, nothing on the cpu looked damaged to me, but i also tried to install an 1150 on an 1151 mobo, i figured i would check here first since my brain wasnt doing its job when i bought everything. Thankfully the mobo was much cheaper than the cpu, Im just glad it looks like i wont have to buy both.
