I have a question regarding the MSI H81M-P33 Micro ATX in it's relation to my current hardware.

I have another thread regarding my current motherboard and graphics card
http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2831747/nvidia-gtx-970-booting-bios.html

If that is solved soon that would fix all of this, but just in case I figured I'd start prepping.

My main concern is my current motherboard, though physically capable, is not able to support my new graphics card.

As a result I was looking around on the internet for a relatively inexpensive way to fix my issue in case I could never resolve the previous thread.

The solution is to purchase a new motherboard and transfer my processor and memory etc.. over to it.

I found the MSI H61M-P31/W8 Micro ATX LGA1155 mobo, and ran some compatibility checks with my GPU, PSU, and my memory using PC Part picker, and everything checked out okay.

I just wanted a second opinion before I scrape up the extra money to fix the issue I am having.

Is this a good idea as a decent fix for my problem?

My processor is an Intel Xeon e3 1220 v2 and my graphics card is an Nvidia GTX 970 by EVGA with a 500w EVGA PSU.

PSU is an EVGA 500w 80 plus. Will look into ASUS, that was my second choice, but MSI happens to be in a price range I'd prefer. If you can recommend a mobo I'll look into it as well :).

I like it!

You are sure this will work with the Intel Xeon e3 1220 v2?

I noticed a lot more motherboards were compatible with the v3 of my processor but less with v2.

Cool, well in that case I will probably stick with the MSI since it works with v2. But if you happen to come across something let me know, I won't order anything for another hour or so while I do a bit more research.

But to kind of finalize this, would this be the proper solution to my problem?

I'm not a hardware savvy person, but logically my processor works, my gpu works, and my psu works, so I just need to replace the motherboard with a compatible one and put all of that in it, and that should fix my BIOS and GPU issues correct?

After doing some more research I have come to the conclusion that this is the best way to solve my issue.

I will be accepting the original answer as the correct solution since it lead me here and was the general "yes" I was asking for. However this is to provide a bit more detail for other users.

The solution to purchase an MSI H61M-P31/W8 Micro ATX LGA1155 Motherboard to fix my issues as this mobo supports my:

CPU: Xeon 1220 v2
GPU: EVGA Nvidia GTX 970.
PSU: EVGA 500w 80+

My current motherboard is a proprietary Dell motherboard meant for servers as my machine is a Poweredge t110 ii.

Essentially I have built a whole new machine (fairly inexpensively) by just taking the CPU from my original mobo and I will replace it in the new mobo.

So my build will be the following specs:

Mobo:
MSI H61M-P31/W8 Micro ATX LGA1155

CPU:
Intel Xeon e3 1220 v2 3.1ghz

GPU:
EVGA Nvidia GTX 970

PSU:
EVGA 500w 80+

Memory:
Patriot 4gb-6gb (not entirely sure if my current RAM is compatible, however I am sure that that at least 4gb is. If not RAM is a simple fix so I'm not entirely worried about that)

With that said and done I have basically just decided to build a new machine piecing the parts I have together. This community has been fairly helpful in leading me in the right direction, and I will certainly come back if I experience any issues as I build this machine.
