i did not have to update the bios on a asus maximums iv z87 for the i7 4790k

im not sure if everything is fine when i installed everything for my pc i did not have to update the bios but everyone said that i had to will the motherboard still read the cpu if it has NOT BEEN UPDATED IT SHOWS MY CPU AND i am using it right now

Wouldn't worry about it then.
Update the bios if you are confident on what you are doing, it never hurts to have more stability etc but if it's working and you are at all worried about a bad flash then leave it as it is.

Most folks probably told you that you had to do a bios update as originally the board would have shipped with an older bios but over the product life cycle they often ship with updated chips later.
