So I have a newly built pc and get the bios or anything for that matter to come up to my tv screen. I've tried a dozen different things after searching the internet. When I power on the pc, the lights and fans all come on, I just can't get anything on screen. I'm pretty sure it's either my CPU, mobo, or bad connection maybe as this is my first build. I'm mainly wondering whether or not it could still be the mobo even tho the leds and other lights are lit up on the mobo.

My specs are:

Mobo: Asus z97 pro gamer
CPU: i7 4790k
GPU: evga geforce gtx 980
PSU: seasonic 850w
Ram: 2x8g corsair vengeance 1600
HSF: noctua nh d15
Case: cooler master storm trooper
500g Samsung ssd- no hdd yet

And btw the tv is a 60in Samsung and it connects to my laptop through hdmi daily with no problem. Any help would be much appreciated.

I have tried both hdmi ports, the GPU and mobo. I'll see what I can do about trying a different monitor but why would that make a difference?

Sorry I didn't mean to say the post was answered lol. Yes I've tried reconnecting things a few times each inside and out of the case. I've tried the ram in different slots and just one stick at a time. After one instance of using one thing if ram, the pc would immediately reset itself and continue to do so over and over. I assume that meant something wasn't getting power or shorting out. It stopped doing that tho after I moved the ram again.

Integrated graphics? I'm not using integrated graphics?

The HDMI port on the motherboard is for integrated graphics. You said you tried the HDMI port on the motherboard and didn't get any video signal. You won't get a video signal out of the motherboard's HDMI port until you uninstall the discrete graphics card.

I guess I don't exactly know what integrated graphics are. Mobo and gpu? I have integrated graphics on my laptop but that means it uses 2 graphics cards I thought. Intel 3000 and amd Radeon. Taking the GPU out and then booting fixed the problem. I guess the mobo was sending signal to the GPU to run graphics on boot and it doesn't have it's drivers installed to use it so I couldn't get a screen. Thanks for all your help guys.

The Intel Core i7-4790K processor has Intel HD Graphics 4600 on the same silicon die as the CPU. The video ports on the motherboard allow the use of that Intel HD Graphics 4600.

By default the discrete graphics card, when installed in the primary PCI-E x16 slot, will override the integrated graphics.

Uninstalling the discrete graphics card will enable you to use the Intel HD Graphics 4600 via the HDMI port on the motherboard. Great for some graphics card troubleshooting purposes.
