I have a 1920x1080 monitor and it is locked at 1280x1024. I tried going to device manager and uninstalling my graphics card, restarting, and installing new graphics drivers. When I go to adapter properties it is also stuck at 1280x1024. I recently bought an adapter so I could use two monitors. My second monitor which is a HP vs17 is using DVI and my other monitor which is a Samsung monitor is using display port. My graphics card is a Nvidia GTX 960. Please help!

Both monitors use VGA. The card has one DVI port, 2 display ports, and 2 hdmi ports. I use adapters for both monitors.

When I got to my monitor info it says
Analog - 64.0KHz PP 1280x1024
Optimal Mode - 1920x1090 60Hz

I know what their resolutions are. The problem is that my Samsung monitor is stuck at 1280x1024

OK. I am going to show you how to see every resolution that Windows thinks your monitor can handle and if 1920x1080@32bit color@60Hz is there, you will be able to change that monitor to that.

Right click on the desktop and select Screen Resolution from the popup menu.
On the next screen, you will see a graphical representation of your two displays. Make sure the one that is listed in the drop down box is the Samsung. If it is not, select the Samsung either by clicking on monitor 1 or 2 (which ever it is), or using the Display dropdown box to choose it.
Once the Samsung is selected, over in the lower right corner click on Advanced Settings.
On the panel that appears, click on the Show All Modes button.

You will now need to find the entry that says: 1920 by 1080, True Color (32 bit), 60 Hertz.. If that is there click on it to select it (it will turn blue), then click OK, Apply, OK and OK. Your Samsung will then be at 1920x1080.

Let me know what happens.

So I guess you are using one passive adapter (DVI-I-to-VGA) and one active adapter (X-to-VGA)? Connecting the Samsung to the passive adapter and the HP to the active adapter should work. My assumption is, that the active adapter supports up to 1280*1024 only.
