Hi builder experts! I'm looking to replace my wheezy and not-easily-upgradeable (proprietary power supply) HP tower with something funner, like a Corsair Obsidian 250D or a case that is even more home-theater looking. I want it to:

  • Not look like a "computer" i.e. tower
    Display movies at 4k
    Edit photos and videos
Be as cool and quiet as possible
    Cost about $800
It doesn't need to:

  • Play Witcher at ultra settings 120fps
Have room for future upgrades-- this would be demoted to a media server if I need something better in the future
    Connect wirelessly

I've heard about DirectX 12, Is AMD a better option for a processor?

Those specs look great. Any ideas to make that fit in a non-tower case? Frankly I'm just bored with towers, and I want to make something that doesn't look like I could have ordered it from Dell...
