After putting together a build on Pcpartpicker.com, in the compatibility notes it said "Some AMD A88X chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Kaveri CPUs." I was wondering if the issue of having to update the BIOS is still present for A88X chipset mother boards.
I currently have the Asus A88X-PLUS ATX FM2+ Motherboard selected in my build.

Any advice on the issue or if there is a better motherboard around the same price to be pared with the Kaveri Apu would be greatly appreciated.

Most differences in motherboards amongst the same socket will be things like better chipsets, having usb 3.0, multiple pcie slots, multiple graphics card capabilities, better overclocking capabilities, different RAM speed compatibilities, and the list goes on. If you really plan on gaming, I would recommend this over your APU build for about $20 more you will get a dedicated graphics card capable at gaming comfortably at 1080p, a higher quality power supply, and a higher quality SSD:

CPU: AMD Athlon X4 860K 3.7GHz Quad-Core Processor ($69.99 @ Newegg)
Motherboard: ASRock FM2A88X PRO3+ ATX FM2+...

That CPU requires BIOS 1102. That BIOS was released over a year and a half ago. I don't think you will have problems. I did a A88X-PRO build with that CPU and didn't have any problems. I did a BIOS upgrade just to get the latest BIOS, since I try not to update a BIOS after I have a good build.

Sorry about the late reply. I am planning on using this PC for everyday activities / schoolwork and gaming. I have actually updated the build recently http://pcpartpicker.com/p/nXKYjX . I am understanding how to choose all other parts but i am getting the most confused when choosing the motherboard. Any help would be appreciated
