I want to increase my computers performance but not sure where to go from where I am. My setup consosts of: Intel i7 5820K, 64GB DDR4 RAM, EVGA GTX 970 SC, ASRock X99 Extreme4, EVGA SuperNOVA G2 650W, Crucial MX100 512GB SSD, Sansung 840EVO 750GB SSD, Seagate Barracuda 1TB HDD, with a $500 custom water loop and a CM Storm Stryker case.

Solution
While getting 980Ti would help a lot, don't go and do anything yet.

Wait for Pascal to come out and choose what to do then.
If the new 1070 or 1080 doesn't give enough performance boost, take 980Ti. It surely will be available for great price then.
And if 1070/1080 are good, get one of them.

Video card? SLI 970 or sell it and get 980ti(s). Is that psu one with the modular cabling? If so, you can get 1000w P2, unplug your current psu, install the new one, and plug all the cables into it. Did something similar meself. Had the 1000w P2, got a second 780ti and got the 1200w P2, easy as can be to upgrade the psu.

Dont recommend SLI. Sell the 970 and get an 980ti.
Multigpu still has chances of microstutter and glitching, its come along way but it isnt flawless. Also more power requirements and heat. More noise to remove that heat.
My thought is to get the single fastest gpu you can afford. Even with an unlimited budget i wouldnt touch multi gpu

Also you havent mentioned your monitor. People so often neglect this. Maybe a sweet 27 or 32 " 1440p monitor is at hand?

This guy seems to have quite the budget (and the itch :) ) Maybe he can get it now, and sell it and upgrade to pascal when it comes out.

Good point. He could just sell the 970 then and get hte 980TI straight up. Then get 980TI SLI later or 1080/1080Ti.

Thanks for all of the response it's really appreciated. I really want tiger the EVGA Titan X Hydro Copper but it is a whopping $1200 and I am not sure if it really performs that much more than the EVGA 980Ti Hydro Copper. Not sure whether the Titan is worth tvs money or not. I kind of think the 980ti would be better but not sure.
