CPU Fan making grinding noise

Solution
If it continues to make noise after cleaning, immediately replace the fan if possible. If it not possible to replace just the fan, replace the whole cooler. Failure to take corrective action will lead to a CPU cooling failure which will also cause the CPU to fail.

get some air duster and clean the dust out of your heat sink. youll need to remove it, which then requires reapplying thermal paste. what are your system specs (and how old is it)? might be worth investing in a cheap aftermarket cooler.

I had that happen with an amd cooler... i just put a different cooler I had laying around on it instead. I don't think it's worth trying too hard to fix it. Honestly if you have some friends who are into PC building they probably have a stock cooler ( I have two sitting on my desk ) that you can steal from them for free.
