I am new to building and built my first custom pc last October. I have the Corsair h100i liquid cpu cooler and have ran into a cpu fan error on boot up. My motherboard and and h100i are updated to the latest bios (Asus Maximus VII Formula). This happened a few times early on and I was able to fix it by switching the place the fans were plugged into on the pump. The error went away for over 6 months and now its back, I tried the usual way I did to fix it but that no longer works. Any help with this will be greatly appreciated!

Solution
In your advanced menu of the Asus bios.
If you go to the page that deals with the fan rotation speeds and monitoring of the fans, and also you can select the profile or mode for each to High, medium, Silent.

Scroll right to the bottom of the page and you will see the low Rpm speed monitor.
You have the ability to set how low the fans rpm is monitored before a fan error is reported by your bios on first boot up or posting.

Simply lower the value to 600rpm, about the lowest value. and save the new setting in the bios before you exit it.
If any fan drops below 600rpm the alarm with be triggered and will show up as an error when posting your Asus motherboard.
If your fans spin lower than 600rpm simply disable the fan error monitor option...

Should work fine after that my friend. You just missed the option in the bios because they put it right at the bottom of the bios page, or section your on and in. ;-)
