Hi, my problem is that my PC doesn’t start, spins for one second and reboots continuously. This happens after I tried to flashback my bios from 1002 to 4701 in a wrong way, renaming the filename from “SABERTOOTH-X79-ASUS-4701.CAP” to “SABERX79.ROM”. Of course after renaming .CAP to .ROM my machine crashes.

After that I tried to replace the old driver but it was not possible. I tried to flash all the previous versions .ROM from 0709 to 1203 but none of them worked properly and the computer still doing the same think every time I press the power button, spins 1 sec and reboot all the time until I plug it out or hold the power button.

I also tried to install CAP-Converter and seems to be done but when I plug .CAP files the button of the flashback remains solid blue and don’t read this at all. It seems that still can reads .ROM files but don’t start. Of course I use usb stick formatted in FAT32.

After that and because none of these works for me I tried to reset the motherboard with the jumper placed to 2nd and 3rd pin (from 1-2) and nothing. Then I plugged power out and also the motherboards battery and wait for half an hour and still nothing.

I flash again all the .ROM versions 0709, 0802, 0906, 1009, 1203 and still NOTHING.

I called Asus technical support and the told me that models like this that has the flashback option CANNOT bricked and HAVE TO work properly even after my bad first attemp or after a corrupt file installation. It doednt matter at all.

They suggest me to flash they older .ROM file 0709 with a different usb stick. I did that with 3 different usb sticks and still NOTHING. When i press the button again spins for 1 second and then restarts and again and again the same...

The also told me that my product has 5 years guarantee and i am in this period BUT this product is out of stock and out of productivity.

The will search for a solution for my situation and they contact me back today.

Could you please help me with that? Is there something I can do?

I think I am going to loose my guarantee.... i am still waiting from Asus to give a solution at the moment. Is there anything else you think its gonna work??

Please explain how you do the flashback

Did you try the latest bios cap file?
You have to extract the file, because it's compressed. (unzip)
Rename the cap file to saberx79.cap
Place the stick in the white USB port
Press flash button till the light flashes.

I did the flashback as described in the manual.

I formatted usb stick in FAT32, i place the .ROM file renamed with the Asus Rebamer SABERX79.ROM, place it in the white USB for the flashback and hold the button for 3 seconds until it starts blinking.
They suggest me to run the oldest file i from asus support site.

The flashback seems to read it normally but after that PC doesnt start, just spin for 1 sec and restart.
