I can't decide between buying i54440, i54460 and fx 8350. I want to go for a gtx 960 but I'm open to other recommendations. I plan on playing games like gta 5 and witcher 3 on a 1080p display. Any suggestions?

Just posted this in: http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2833008/amd-intel.html

"For gaming, i5 4440 = FX 6300 in most games, i5 4690 = FX 8350 in most games. The AMD CPU and motherboard is usually a little less expensive and allows for a better GPU in the build."

You don't really need 8 cores for gaming, 6 is enough right now.
You don't need an expensive 990FX motherboard to overclock an FX CPU. Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P us great for a single GPU. 990FX is for Crossfire / SLI setups due to extra PCIe lanes.

Here's an example if a good GTX 970 build using an FX 6350

And a few of my own recent builds.

You could probably do an FX 6300 or 6350 for $120, that board for $80, and a 212 EVO for $30 and be good for 4.5-4.6GHz spending around $230...probably less if you catch a holiday sale.

So this is what Im planning on building. Can I get away with a GTX960 and AMD6300 without overclocking and not affecting my frame rate and graphics? Also if i choose to go with the FX6300 and GTX970, will the GPU bottleneck the CPU?
