Hi guys,
I'm building a PC. Brief spec is:
Core i7-6700
Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB for future possible upgrade)
mSI Z170A Krait Gaming
250GB Samsung 850 Pro + 1TB WD Black + 4TB WD Green
Initial VGA candidate is GTX 970 but some people tell me that the 970 is not worth to get, 980 is way better, but it's also way far from my expected budget too. So is it worth saving $200 more to get the 980? Mostly I use for medium level of Photoshop and video editing, and yes games like NFS Rivals and those new FPS too

Well, then the choice is easy enough. A GTX-970 is more than sufficient to drive most games at 1080p at very high settings. Even a GTX-960 would be almost good enough (it manages 30-60fps on most games).

Well, ultimately which one you get will be determined by what resolution you're going to run it at. For example, if you're only running a cheap 1376x768 p.o.s. monitor, getting a GTX980 (which normally excels at 1440+ resolutions) would be overkill.

So - what monitor setup are you running? 720p? 1080p? 1440p? 4k? That's what will ultimately determine what your GPU choice should be. (well, along with your budget... lol.)

at this time, i advise to go to R9 390. And i have a 970, which i love. But looking at the benchmarks, and the current prices, the best bang for buck will absolutely be the 390.

If you don't mind spending more, go with the 980, although i don't advise for the price retailers ask for it.

Sorry I forgot to mention the display
I'm thinking of using a 40" Samsung LED HDTV for main display and possibly a 15.6" 1366x768 secondary display. the price really hurt my budget though lol, with that $200 I can spend more on other components
