Hello out there!
I have a problem with my computer restarting at random during gaming. My rig is less than a year old and was working fine up until a week ago. No apparent changes have been made lately to either software or hardware. So I'm lost as to what could cause this. Since my parts are still covered by factory guarantee, I'm anxious to find the problem so i can send it back.
So i need your help and brains narrowing it down.

I'm running windows 10, and the specs are as follows:

mb: msi z97 mpower
gpu: msi r9 290x lightning
cpu: i5 4690k
psu: fractal newton 1000w
ram: corsairs vengance 1600mhz ddr3 32gb (4x8)
hdd: samsung evo 850 ssd

Any help or input is greatly appreciated! :D

i agree with SR-71. PSU is number 1 suspect.

Hmm, I myself was narrowing it down to the PSU as well, however were under the impression That the Fractal newton 1000w was a good powersupply.
Voltages (taken from bios) in bios are fine.
Temps are great idle at 27C max load at 47C (Cpu) and idle 36C max load 70C (Gpu)
I did check the voltages in hwmonitor, however they are cryptic. There is no 12V rail there and its all vin1 vin2 and so on...

I did a gpu switch, same problem so i'm beginning to suspect the PSU as well.

Ok so I'm having a friend over tomorrow with his rig and we are gonna swap parts to rule out components.
If indeed it is the PSU, and I find a way to get a refund rather than a new one. Which PSU should I aim for?

I was thinking perhaps the Sea Sonic Platinum Series 1050, since its the same price (roughly) and white in color.

Allright I will return with answers on the problem tomorrow after the component switch around !!! Hopefully I will have a solution to my problem then.

Okay, so I tried switching the PSU with a low grade (I asume) 650w energon PSU. Ran the prime95 test for max power consumption and the furmark gpu test (1920x1200 8x sampling) test for 1 minute twice. The test was run simultaneously. And it was stable. Before hand it crashed within 10 to 15 seconds.

I tried the witcher for like 10 mins, and no crash. Which crashd within 5 mins before hand.

Is it safe to assume the psu is the culprit or is there further test i should do before RMA??

I realise that the test were rather short however the random boots happens within this period all the time.
