Does this set-up makes sense?

Solution
It's compatible alright. Though a bit misshapen! Things to note

1.) That power supply is a stinker. If you want to go with EVGA try their B2/G2/GS/P2 series. Other brands of note Antec/XFX/Seasonic/Superflower/Corsair(not CX or CSM series)

2.) You're definitely missing the benefit of a solid state drive in this build. Inclusion will give your build an overall snappier feel, as well as benefiting your actual tasks.

3.) Your platform supports quad channel memory very well, utilize it. Get a 4x4GB kit if you're wanting 16GB

4.) I don't know the extent of your gaming needs, but you might consider allocating some budget to get a 970/ Better experience and you still get to utilize cuda for your tasks.

Thanks for the reply, and conforming the compatibility!
-As you mentioned, I wasn't sure about the right PSU too. XFX models seem well reviewed and not to costly.
-SSD would be a great addition, since video editing needs a quick data transfer. Only con is the price.
-After reading many reviews on the subject, I am still conflicted between 2x8gb and 4x4gb for my memory. I'll go with your opinion, since you seem like you know your stuff.
