Help me pick a combo (Haswell,sandy bridge)

A i7 2600 and mobo for $240AUD or a i5 4460 ($360AUD) or a g3258 sky lake ($270)
Which one would be best value for money and is the i7 still good enough for games coming out

G3258 is not Skylake, it's Haswell and it's not worth consideration.

I7 2600 is best value, it's absolutely NOT 66% worse than the 4460 and will be better in many cases,

Yes, the i7, with 3.4 Ghz clock, and 3.8Ghz Turbo Boost will run modern games well.

There are indeed, but the G3258 is not one of them. In any situation, a Pentium or an i3 are not the answer at this price point given your other choices.
