Current PC is 3 years old and its starting to crack under my heavy demands of 1080p60fps gaming, video editing and streaming. Think its about time for some new parts. Dont know if I should upgrade major parts like CPU, GPU, MOBO, RAM and CPU cooler or just get a couple extra parts for a new build. Im going to purchase these parts between Black Friday and Cyber Monday to get the best deals possible this year. Im going to go with an i7-582k for sure because I can get one for $300 if I pick it up at my local Microcenter, price could drop even further on Black Friday.

Current PC Specs:
CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor
Motherboard: ASRock Z77 Extreme4 ATX LGA1155 Motherboard
Memory: Samsung 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 Memory
Storage: Crucial MX100 256GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Video Card: Sapphire Radeon HD 7950 3GB Video Card
Case: Rosewill BlackHawk ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply: Rosewill Lightning 800W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply
Optical Drive: Lite-On ihes112-04 Blu-Ray Reader, DVD/CD Writer
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 OEM (64-bit) )
Monitor: Asus VG248QE 144Hz 24.0" Monitor

New Build:
CPU: Intel Core i7-5820K 3.3GHz 6-Core Processor (Purchased For $300.00)
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-U9S 46.4 CFM CPU Cooler ($64.99 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: ASRock X99 Extreme4 ATX LGA2011-3 Motherboard ($180.99 @ Newegg)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory ($109.99 @ Newegg)
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 980 4GB Superclocked ACX 2.0 Video Card ($499.99 @ Amazon)
Case: Cooler Master Storm Enforcer ATX Mid Tower Case ($89.99 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: EVGA 850W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($133.99 @ Best Buy)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Home Retail (64-bit) ($120, Retail)
Total: $1500.00

Upgrade would save me $300 as of now since I wouldnt need a case, OS or a power supply. Will be reusing my storage, optical drive and monitor so Im saving some money right there.

Only thing that might change your mind is the fact that you'll have to re-install your windows. Make sure you save your important stuff to the cloud, or to backup disk. Losing those steam saves would suck balls.
I'm with the others, upgrade your video card, get a new 1440 monitor and use the free upgrade to win 10.
It appears to me that you're set on this upgrade, so I'll wish you fun and good luck with the new build.:)

Not without re-installing, if you do too-much(new mobo and cpu) in the way of changes to the system. Small changes(a new video card is a small change) would not require re-install.
I was suggesting you stick with your current system too(with the upgrades I suggested). It's not new, but it's still a strong system. O/c as well as can be, optimize your ram timings, if you can, and I would think you'd have at least another intel generation or two of highly capable computing.
Put what you were going to spend into a 24 month CD, when it matures, use it on your new system:)

Thanks for the help guys. Im gonna think about until Black Friday. Currently looking at a $1500 build, hoping to save several hundred bucks like with my current PC 3 years ago. If I end up going with this build then Im going to get a retail copy of Win 10 so I can transfer it whenever I do another build and I'll upgrade to a 1440p monitor eventually, probably black friday 2016.

5820k is only $300 at microcenter while the 6700k is $350. I have to get 16 gb ddr4 ram anyway so why not the 6 core cpu which is better for multitasking and cpu heavy programs??
