I'm wanting to be able to future proof my system somwhat, but I also want a higher refresh rate and found a monitor with 1600x900 resolution and a refresh rate of 75hz. My hardware consist of: 4690k@4.0, gtx 970, 8gb 1866mhz ram, and other parts. But I have a few questions. Would it be worth it to go down in resolution for a higher refresh rate and also if I did want to play alot of games on 75 fps with v-sync on...would I be able to for a couple of years? I also plan to play all my games at max settings. The only demanding games I have are battlefield 4 and far cry 4, and I eve tally plan to get fallout 4 and black ops 3.

With a 970, you should be good maxing out all those games and still get 60+ fps at 1080p, save maybe Far Cry. It wouldn't be worth it to downscale you monitor to be able to lock the frame rate at 75, when you won't be getting huge drops anyway. 75 and 60 refresh rates are not discernible by the human eye.
