My hard drive was working fine but i had to change the SATA port due to the installation of a graphic card . The hard drive is a 3gb/s but I accidently connected it to a SATA 6 port , the hard drive started making a clicking noise after that and didn't work . I connected it back to the SATA 3 port the hard drive still didn't work .

A few days back SMART scan shows hard drive errors , so is the hard drive broken because i connected the wrong port or because it is just faulty ?:??:

Solution
It is likely just faulty.

SATA is backward compatible. In very rare cases older 1.5gigagit sata controllers will fail to see SATA 2(3gigabit) and 3(6gigabit) drives. In all these cases, no harm is done to the drive.

I would be interested to know what smart error you are getting.
