I was wondering if i could use my old hard drive from my current pc and use it on my new pc im building, so can i just plug that old one in and then boot it up with a new windows 7 disk? or will i have to do something with the harddrive before?
Yes you can.
You should be able to change the BOOT device in the BIOS to the CD drive to the primary. From here, when the computer boots the CD, you should be able to delete the original windows on the HDD, or set a new partition. From here you can install the new windows.
Or you could wipe it on a separate computer.
