New ram installed slowed computer

I just recently bought a single 8gb stick of ballistix DDR3L ram and I removed my older ram and put it in. now in every game I lag like no other, even if I switch back to my old ram. And if I run the game in windowed mode and look at the task manager it says that nothing is being maxed out?

If the old DRAM is 2 sticks then it was running in dual channel which is a 10-15% performance increase. Also we don't know what DRAM, mobo or CPU, but if you have say 1333 or higher DRAM, it may well be running at the mobos default which may be slower that your DRAM is rated at, say you have an Intel 2500K CPU and 1600 DRAM, if you haven't set the DRAM up for 1600 then it's more than likely running at 1066 - in short what Mobo, CPU and model of the DRAM, both old and new
