Hey Folks,

Comparing my GTX 770 4gb to other GPU's i found out it performs way better than them on the DirectX9 playing field. My question is, can i run all new games with using DirectX9 so i can get better performance or DX11 is mandatory?

Don't get me wrong the 770 Still rocks 1080p. but if you can get more frames while the game still looks amazing if you run it on DX9. it would be even better.

Some older games have a choice of 9, 10 or 11. It's actually just features like tessellation on/off.

DX11 only games still work with older hardware that doesn't have DX11 hardware features, those features are just automatically turned off.

To answer your question yes you can turn these DX11 settings off to get a boost, you just have to know which ones they are. Try normal or high on some of those settings, you don't have to completely disable.

DX11 introduced a few drastically different changes to the graphics pipeline. If a game was designed specifically for DX11, getting it to work with drivers and hardware that do not support at least baseline DX11 won't happen. Thankfully, a large chunk of GPUs from the past three years do meet baseline DX11 requirements.
