Hi there,
My newly built pc won’t recognize (any) ethernet cable. Specs: i7 4790K, GTX 970, 16 GB Ram and a Gigabyte z97-Gaming 3 motherboard running windows 7 home 64 bit. Now I’ve been searching the web for this problem for quite some time now and I haven’t found a solution yet..
So basically when I use the standard ‘Windows Nework Diagnostics’ it comes up with ‘Plug an Ehternet cable into this computer’. Obviously I do have an ethernet cable plugged in but none of the usual LED’s are lighting up whatstoever, it’s just like it isn’t plugged in. I have tested the cable on another pc and it works just fine. I have also installed drivers that came with the motherboard and made sure to enable LAN in BIOS. Then I figured the port of the motherboard could be the issue, so I got a separate network card, installed in onto the motherboard, plugged the ethernet cable in there and expected the problem to be solved. But nope, same stuff
I’m at a bit of a loss now.. Starting to think I’m overlooking something really simple. Or could it be a faulty motherboard all together? Any ideas are greatly appreciated!
