Which motherboard is better, the ASUS B150M-Plus or the Gigabyte B150M-D3H. Both are socket 1151.

Or should I buy a Z97 1150 motherboard?

The 1151 would be paired with a i3-6100 and the 1150 would be paired with an i3-4170

Solution
In that case, I see no real reason to get a Haswell i3, unless you really want to save some money. The prices are much closer there. You could still go with a Haswell i5, with a cheap, yet still THG approved, board, for a bit more.

At the price, the i3 6100 is going for, you would be better off buying an i5 4460, for like 5 dollars more, and pairing it with a budget board. Z97 is only necessary for SLI/CF setups and overclocking.

Not a difficult choice there. The skylake i3 is simply not worth it.

Sorry, I live in the UK, so the i3 costs £96 and the i5 costs £140, so a bit too high price unless the motherboard is really cheap
