System instability during heavy use

Here's what happens:

1.screen blacks goes back flash a few times and I alt f4 program (ctrl alt delete doesn't work)
2. then system mouse is super slow and laggy, however mouse moves like normal but I have to wait 5 seconds in between clicking things. I check task manger and nothing is getting over used.
3. I then have to restart my computer to make it work again like normal.

This reminds of when I used speed fan for a laptop and certain settings would cause odd software malfunctions a lot like what I described ( haven't installed that program ever)
I checked for video driver update. The GPU is not crashing during this (EVGA precision tuner stays live)
CPU is not maxed during this.

I did notice one thing on my openhardware monitor my cpu core tempsare fine, but 1 core is much higher then all the other like 80c normal. I am thinking that is a software glitch, because on intel tunning and ASUS mobo software it claims the CPU as a whole is around 45-50c. Any good software for individual core temp check?

I use CoreTemp. It's common to see cores that are higher temps; I have a 10C difference between some of mine. The whole CPU is probably an average. If you're seeing even one core at 80C and 100% load, that's pretty hot. I would look at cleaning the heatsink/fan or reapplying thermal paste.

Check the usage of the overheating core. It is possible you are just running very intensive single core processes that cannot take advantage of multiple cores so your single processor gets bogged down. If the usage of that core is 100%, it is possible that is what is causing the PC to slow down. You just do not have enough single core performance.

The other thing to check is ram usage when you see this fault. If your ram is at 100% use, it will cause a slow down as the ram needs to complete previous tasks before it will take on the current task you are asking it to do.

Make sure there are no updates running or downloading in the background. Disable automatic updates and just check for updates weekly or monthly. Anywho if that is not the case clean your cpu cooler and apply new paste...if temps is not the issue than format and clean install your OS.
