I just wanted to know if a GTX 670 would work on my 500W psu. The thing is that my PSU is kinda cheap, it's a Cooler Master B500, I don't have any problems with it now, because my current card takes 80W less power, but I might buy an used GTX 670 for a price of a new Gtx 750Ti here. I am not really planning on changing my PSU though. Should I just get the 670 or save like 70euro more to get a new GTX 960 that doesn't take a lot of power? The GTX 670 is similar to the 960 in performance.

Current build:
I3-530
GTX 550Ti
Cooler Master B500
1TB hdd
8gb of ram

Yes you can certainly power either of those cards along with your current setup. As mentioned you might end up a little bit bottlenecked or a lot depending on the game.

The psu it self can power either card, it'll do fine, nowhere near ideal but in a pinch you can use it, as power is a bit of a concern you may be better off with the 960, it's better suited to that psu.

Personally I would opt for the 670 because it's cheaper but as I mentioned the 960 draws considerably less power and may be the better option for you.

I wouldn't try running a gtx 960 with that cpu, it will bottleneck especially in cpu-intensive tasks. Also, for either video card I'd recommend changing the PSU. Best thing to do would be to buy the gtx 670 and upgrade your power supply. There are some good quality power supplies out there which aren't too expensive.

There's not a lot of PSU's I can choose from, for some reason they don't stock as much as they used to. I know my CPU sucks, but I think getting a new GPU would be better than buying a new CPU with a new motherboard and new ram, because that is expensive and I don't have the money for it, but I really want to get better fps in games because I can barely play GTA V on 720p. I could buy the CPU later.

you're right about cost. Thing is with GTA V is that it requires a mid range quad core processor for decent gaming. While adding a new video card will definitely make your gaming experience better, the CPU will still limit what you can do. What brands of PSUs do stores/websites in your country have?

They have a lot of them honestly. It's just that they're too expensive. Used to stock seasonic 500W ones but now it's from 600 and stuff. Be quiet starts from 500W 80+ silver , so you already know its expensive. They have all sorts of corsair psu's but I don't want to get corsair because it's not much of an upgrade coming from one poor quality psu to an another :( also corsair is really expensive, for the price of CX500 i could get a seasonic s12 620W, it's kinda stupid. I know that I probably won't run into problems with my current cooler master psu unless I will actually overload something

the minimum system requirement for the gtx 670 is 500W. It is advised strongly that your wattage should be slightly over the figure recommended. I am not saying it won't work but in the long term there is a chance that you will run into problems. So ultimately the choice is yours. If you decide to go for a new PSU, choose either a seasonic, xfx, superflower or antec
