Hello I was just wanting to check which resolution is better for gaming,

hopefully I should have enough power to run 4K if that is the option.

what sort of framerates on the latest games are you guys getting?

I will be using 2x 980TI MSI 6G cards
i7 4790k 4.5ghz
16GB Ram
1000W PSU.

Thanks

Damn, your rig is NICE. I would go to 4k instead of 1440p. What is the full resolution of the 1440p or 2160p (4K) monitor. I.e. 3840 x 2160. Your rig can handle 4K in all games at high or medium. 60 FPS on medium/high and 30 FPS on ULTRA, depending from game to game.

With that build you will have no problems running 1440p. As far as 4k it would depend on the game really. I've seen random reviews and people hit 55-80 fps on newer games typically all settings maxed out.

You don't need the eye candy ( AA and AF ) at 4K that you do at lower resolutions. 980 Ti Sli should get you 40+ FPS in most every title at 4K. Perfectly playable. I would never have bought dual flagship cards right now with Pascal right around the corner but you can always sell them and get some of your money back. Pascal could conceivably have double the performance of Maxwell.

Then 1440p it is!!!! What resolution will you be using. I.e. 2,560 x 1,440? That would be great. It's double the pixels of a 1920 x 1080p monitor :) where as 4k has 8 million pixels, double of 1440p. 1080p = 2 million, 1440p = 4 million, 2160p = 8 million

Then go with a 144Hz 1440p monitor or sell one of those cards. One 980 Ti will max every game at 1440p. I know I have an EVGA 980 Ti SC ACX 2.0 and a 32" Samsung 1440p monitor. No problems with any games.

He's also wasting $700 at 1440p.

Best monitor is subjective. I went with this for the size and 100% sRGB color accuracy. A 32" 1440p monitor keeps the text size about the same as a 23" 1080p monitor and since my eyes aren't getting any younger it was a no brainer.

It's $100 cheaper than when I bought it in April too.

It's all up to OP. I think selling his 980 ti for a 1440p monitor is a good way to save money but maybe he has money to burn; do you OP?

ROG swift is a TN panel and the Acer predator is an IPS, so depending which one you have now, I'd probably base it on what you're using now ips or tn causee the viewing angles, colors and response times are different but they have same refresh rates...144hz.

PG278Q is TN ($660)
PG279Q is IPS and should be available for roughly $800 in a few weeks, same panel manufacturer as the
Acer Predator (XB270HU bprz) (~$720)

Also the 3440x1440 displays to look at. Acer has a decent one, also under the predator brand.

Yeah I really like the 34" acer predator 100hz gsync that just came out. I'm gonna pick that up myself soon or the asus that is going to be very similar and ips too.
