I'm looking to upgrade some parts on my computer. I'm replacing the MOBO and Ram, and will be adding a SSD as the boot drive, but will be keeping the HDD for storage. I imagine that I would need to reload the operating system but I’m not sure. Current operating system is an OEM copy of Windows 7 64bit.

Also, If I do need to reinstall the OS do I need a fresh install or can I get one of those repair CD's?

OEM versions of windows from the likes of DELL, HP, Toshiba... are tied to the mothebrd they were installed to. Legally, If you change your motherbd you will need to purchase a new copy of windows and install all over again. In real life, you have 30 days to come up with an activation code by buying windows or calling Microsoft and see if they will allow the install and give you an override code.
