Hey guys!

Im having an issue where sometimes my motherboard fails to boot.

I get as far as the post screen but it will just freeze at the ROG logo.

I must stress 90 percent of the time it boots fine but occasionally this occurs.

I also broke a usb port on the board, could this be whats causing it? the pins inside are bent and the blue guide snapped.

Its an Asus ROG Maximus VII Ranger.

Edit: i think i get an error code 62

Hey,

Well looks like your motherboard has done some partying...

Disconnect all the USB devices and basically everything connected to the PC except the 3 pin and see if it works. Take out the GPU (if you have one) and use the integrated graphics and see if it works.

Change the memory sticks around in the dimms, reseat them. See if it fixes the issue. Try some different memory sticks and see if it goes past the splash screen.

Post back results here.

Is the board under warranty still? Call ASUS, they are pretty helpful and you might get an RMA. Especially if you tell them how many other ASUS products you own (hopefully you do).

At the very least they may offer a fix.

I could do this yes but the issue is not re-producable.

It only happens maybe one boot in 10.

could it be the broken usb port shorting out?

It is under warranty, but i think the broken usb - which may be causing the issue is my fault, they might tell me to go buy a new board :/

I guess.

Tried disabling the broken usb in the bios and have had no issues since.

Will need to keep an eye on it though!
