Hey, I have been looking at laptops for a while, and found that the Acer Aspire E5-573G-59C3 seems to be the best way to go, for cheapest $500 range. but I have been wondering something. With laptops, you can't just put in any gpu like with my desktop currently. I have an r9 270 and this laptop will be my main, I would like to know how cpu and gpu upgrades work with laptops, as I would like to look into that. I am not asking if I can put my r9 270 in it, I am asking why not and what can actually be put in there instead. Thanks!

Most laptops do not have removable GPUs because they're soldered to the motherboard - it's as simple as that. Then some laptops don't have discrete GPUs at all - these can't have a GPU installed aftermarket because there are no connectors available. (unlike with a desktop).

And laptops that do have removable GPUs can cost 2-3x what you're looking at. On top of that the good discrete GPUs for laptops can cost $600-800.

Unless you find it, word for word, in the specs and the service manual on how to change those, and change to what...you can't
Do your research before you buy.

The vast majority of laptops, you cannot change the GPU. Certainly not in the $500 range.
