Why does task manager say i'm using 85% of my ram but it says i'm only using around 1 gig? I have 8 gigs.

Windows processes are not all listed in Task Manager.

RAMMAP works well though a bit confusing (and doesn't work with Windows 10 yet).

It may be the Windows SEARCH (indexing) function that is using so much memory. Try disabling that (Google for how) and see if your problem is solved.

1) Running single channel will just reduce the bandwidth between CPU and memory. It doesn't affect the total memory available.

2) How do you know you are in single channel memory only?

3) Dual channel mode is AUTOMATICALLY applied provided you have two sticks (2x4GB) in the correct slots. You don't list your motherboard but sometimes it's the 2nd and 4th (left to right).

The motherboard manual tells you EXACTLY which slots to use based on the number of sticks. One stick might be in the 2nd or 4th slot for example, and TWO might be 2nd AND 4th.
