My mouse pointer moves, but it cannot open or close anything anymore.
Also, I need to right click instead of left click.
Where can I find the files that control the mouse?
Windows 7. Gateway desktop.
It worked last week.
I tried 'system restore' to no avail.

The device manager is where you can find out about drivers and all your hardware, it's in the control panel.

There's also the Mouse Properties in the control panel, it mentions the mouse driver in there too if you go to the Hardware tab then click the properties button.

Did the mouse settings in the control panel get changed somehow?

I did have my mouse start randomly double clicking a few weeks ago and the manufacturer told me to uninstall the driver and reinstall it. I did that through the device manager, though you have to know how to navigate using the keyboard once you remove the mouse drivers. After I restarted it's been working fine.

My mouse drivers are located in the system32/drivers folder and are mouclass.sys and...

You might try downloading drivers from the mouse manufacturer and installing those.
