Hi,

I have a Lenovo ThinkServer TS430. Just under a year ago I installed Windows 8 on it and have been using it since, however I have now upgraded to Windows 10. There is one problem though, if I use my dedicated graphics card (AMD Radeon R9 270x 2Gb), there is just a black screen upon boot. If I unplug my graphics card and use the integrated graphics, it works fine.

I have done some reading and it seems that the solution to this is to disable the integrated graphic in the BIOS. But the ThinkServer BIOS doesn't include an option to do this, because it is meant to be used as a server and who uses dedicated graphics on a server.

So how can I change/update the BIOS to get this option (disable integrated graphics)? If you don't think this will work for my black screen on boot problem, then please suggest something else.

Thanks

BIOS can usually only be updated to what the manufacturer supplies on their website. I am however surprised by your findings.

However, I think you're mistaken.

Sorry I didn't explain this, but I'm not using it as a server, I'm using it as a 3D Modelling and rendering computer. The only reason I'm using a server is because I had it lying around and didn't want to spend more money on a processor, motherboard and HDD. And also because the server had some nice specs (Xeon E3, 1TB HDD). So for me it is intended as a regular PC, not a server.

I am not sure you'are looking in the right section of your BIOS config. All graphics cards, to my knowledge, plugs into the PCIe connectors.

You can look on Lenovo's website for BIOS updates, and you can also post the specific make and model number of your Server. Look on the product barcode and it will have a number like XXXX-yyy or something close to that.
