I'm using an AsRock 970 PRO3 R2.0 and AMD Athlon II x3 460, Windows 8.0.
The first time I UCC'ed, Windows 8 showed me Phenom II B60 x4 and task manager saw 4 cores. I'm not sure about L3 cache. AMD Overdrive showed the same. I ran a stability in AMD OD and it hanged. All as expected so far.
Now Windows and OD doesn't display the 4th core and neither L3 cache, although they show "Phenom II B60 x4" for the CPU.
I tried rebooting with UCC disabled and then again rebooting UCC enabled. Same story.

You can imagine I want to keep trying to resuscitate the baby-core FWIW but I don't have a second chance :)
Is it the MB?

EDIT:
It was the boot>advanced>no of cores. Stupid me. But is there a chance to get the L3 cache enabled?

What's the edit mean? It's working now?
If your Athlon II X3 460 is based on the Propus core, it will not have a disabled L3 cache. Propus was an Athlon. If it was based on the Deneb core, it will have an L3 cache (disabled). The Deneb was a Phenom. If the L3 cache didn't show up when you unlocked the disabled care, it was a Propus. You can verify by looking at the code on the CPU's heat shield: http://www.cpu-world.com/info/AMD/Unlocking_cores_and_L3.html
