I get this error when i use chkdsk for my memory card. I tried using tools like sdfformatter, recuva but these software do not open up as long as my card is attached to laptop, when i remove these tools open.....is there a way to format my card and use it?

Hey there, mollyontheride and welcome to the community. :)

It sounds like the memory card might be corrupted and unusable. You could try formatting it via Ubuntu Live USB/DVD, to see if you have any luck. Other than that you could check out this tutorial, to see if it proves useful: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/555484. You could also try formatting the card by using a different computer or device.

Hope that helps.

I used my memory card in card reader to get some text files from my friend lappy. I did it two three times bt one day my lappy n my phn are having prblem with that memory card.......Whn i put it in my phn....it hangs n does not respond....as soon as i remove it frm phn, my phn says that preparing sd card.....whn i put it in lappy, my recognize it n says that there are problems with it, scan n fix bt it cant fix.....whn i open explorer it hangs....i tried formatting it using chkdsk n diskpart from cmd bt it also kind of hangs n as soon as i remove sd card from lappy cmd flashes message for commands written whn sd card was attached. Whn i used chkdsk h: /f on cmd it says that 'cannot open volume for direct access'......i hav also used tools like sdformatter n all, they all dont open till my sd card is attached to lappy....as soon as i remove my sd card they open n say no memory card attached............plz help me if there is a way to format my sd card or is it corrupted to an extent tht nthing cant be done? bt thn my lappy recognizes it...........hlpppp

In my opinion the memory card is damaged and you shouldn't trust it with any data or use it, even if any of your devices are able recognizes it for a little bit. It would be too risky. Check with the reseller you bought it from, if it's still under warranty and try to RMA it. If you can't do that, the best solution would be to get a new one.
