Hello,

First, here are the infos you might need to help me:
-Asus ROG Maximus IV Intel P67 chipset
-HDD in question is Samsung M3 portable 500 GB HDD on USB 3.0 interface
-I am plugging the device directly into the motherboard's USB 3 port in the back I/O
-I tried different ports on the same PC but nothing gives; it runs at full sped on 3 other different PC's (60 MB/s and not 30 MB/s like I see on mine).

I need help concerning my SATA controller after I saw windows troubleshooter not being able to fix this on its own. It all started becasue of my external HDD that uses USB 3.0 actually running at USB 2 speeds. It has been doing that since I bought it so the issue has existed long before I started using that drive.

After running device troubleshooter it said it couldn't fix the issue and then I decided to go in device manager to see for myself what happened. When I got there, it said that one of my 2 AHCI SATA controller had the issue coded "10". I have no idea what that means...

Also, is it safe to uninstall the driver for the controller? What are the consequences if I do so? What do you guys suggest I do?
A quick answer would be really appreciated as the slow speeds are killing me...

Thanks, Dunkan77

Okay thanks so this means I just have to uninstall and re install the drivers for this controller but is it safe to do so without booting in safe mode or disconnecting a drive? Can I do this after having booted normally and when the pc is fully functional or will this cause data loss? I really don't know how to do this can you please write a step by step guide on how to do this? I will be very grateful

Just look up your motherboard website and download the latest Chipset/Sata drivers.

You can go in and uninstall the SATA controllers in your Device Manager if you want to and then restart and then install the software. You PC should start up as long as you aren't using a RAID or anything.
