How do you upgrade motherboard?

I'm not sure how you upgrade motherboards. I've heard you need to get a BIOS update, which I don't know how to do. I've heard they might not work, and i'm just not sure how you do it.

If someone could list the steps to installing motherboard/getting the BIOS or whatever that'd be nice.


I do have an OEM PC, Lenovo desktop H250, I think... I've also heard some OEM computers won't work after new mobo...

Just open your case. Find all the screws that keeping motherboard to attached. Remove all components from it. CPU, graphics, Ram and power supply cables. Attach new motherboard. Make sure to use paste between your cpu and a cooler. Attach all power cables that are necessary. Install RAM if there only two sticks make sure to use slots like 1and 3 or 2 and 4. Plug graphics card. Go to the maker website. Find the model of your motherboard and download latest available bios that are compatible with your windows. Sometimes you might have to use a flash stick. If you have to use flash stick. Boot to your bios find an option to update from flash drive. Click on it and choose right file. In order to get to BIOS use F1 or Del...
