So i essentially am building a brand new gaming computer and have half the parts already, (this is the build: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/NQX8NG ) I am looking to transfer my current SSD & HDD information to this computer although i realize that usually messes with drivers a lot if my computer tries to load all my old drivers. I have an external harddrive so I was wonder what the most efficient way to back up all of my computers info the the external harddrive is, I have a copy of windows 8 so can I back up the documents to my external, clear the old harddrives reinstall windows 8 in the new build and than copy my files back from the external or is there a more efficient process to transferring the information. I mean worst comes to worse I can reinstall my video games and nonsense I would just rather not.

Hey there again, Nsaen4!

You definitely need a cloning tool, you cannot copy/paste system files, if you intend to migrate it to a different storage drive. Here's a tutorial that explains the procedure: http://lifehacker.com/5837543/how-to-migrate-to-a-solid-state-drive-without-reinstalling-windows
Here are some third-party tool suggestions from the community that you can use: http://lifehacker.com/5837543/how-to-migrate-to-a-solid-state-drive-without-reinstalling-windows

Hope it helps. Keep me posted! :)

Welcome to Tom's Hardware, Nsaen4!

That's probably the best way to go about transferring your data. When it comes to efficient backup, it's better to have at least two identical copies of your most precious files stored in different storage devices/locations.
Since it's an entirely new system configuration, there's no way to avoid re-installing your software and games. Even if there was a slight possibility to do so, you'd most probably encounter a lot of issues with the programs which would eventually make you want to re-install them altogether.

I'd suggest you to go ahead and do this exactly as you've explained in the opening post! If you face any problems, make sure to keep us posted! :)

Good luck!
