When overclocking game crashes first time then runs when started again

whenever i overclock what ever game i run will crash when the game loads but when i start it up again it runs fine.
thoughts?

Overclocking too much, find a right level for your gpu. Max overclock settings ain't very often the best.

You need to back off the overclock or allow your gpu to up your core voltage. Upping the core voltages will increase he's and risk of damage.

Are you overclocking the CPU or the graphics Card that is causing the crash? What CPU and GPU are you using and what are your settings.

An either overclocked CPU or GPU, if unstable wouldn't miraculously be stable the next time whatever game you ran is ok after a crash. Something else is going on.

If you're overclocking the CPU, try backing off memory speed a bit.

evga ftw reference clock speeds. its run at +325 gpu offset +600 mem and 18 MV. a friend of mine set it up for stable 60fps for witcher.

try setting everything back to default. if it works well, then it is your oc. why not dial it down little by little until it is stable.
an oc stable at one game does not guarantee stability to other games, so it might be a bit much still
