Backup anything you want to keep on the drive before you do anything else.
Then test with Seatools for DOS or Seatools for Windows. Run SMART check, then Short Drive Self Test, then Short Generic, then Long Generic. If any test shows errors, stop there... the drive is failing and needs to be replaced.

Apart from what BadAsAl already suggested, you can try attaching the HDD with different cables as well.(especially power one)
In case the issue persists and/or the drive fails the tests, you can just RMA in case it is under warranty.
