Can this card overclock as high and as stabe as the g1 and msi? Also if it can are the temps as good?

the card with the strongest cooling will overclock the farthest. but this is highly dependent on how much vcore a certain chip needs. without taking fan noise into consideration the gigabyte g1 has the strongest cooling solution not including hybrid designs. you will still be vcore limited by the stock bios though.

if you overclock both modestly you should get a 10-20% fps boost.

Ok and then how much is needed to get that 10%? 20%? Because I don't want to ruin any parts but as long as my build is capable and everything is stable I'm all for it

you wont ruin anything. the h7 will cool the 6600k well and likely allow at least a 4.4ghz overclock. the sapphire 390 can be overclocked as well but you will likely only get an extra 100mhz which is 10% higher clocks than out the box and roughly 10% more performance.

Good find with the ram however the motherboard you suggested doesn't support it. Also I can get the 6600k for 219. That will allow me to get the asus motherboard to support the ram. Also I kind of wanted to go with nvidia. I've heard that the msi 970 can be overclocked to really high values. I'm not against or for either one but it seemed like nvidia was better.

the motherboard supports it. it will just round off to the nearest ram multiplier.

970 or 390, either one is very good and you would likely never notice a difference between the two performance wise.

I own that card , you can even get some decent overclocks on stock voltage.

I bought the gtx 980 SC asx2.0 from the Evga B stock on their website. It actually over clocked surprisingly well. 200mhz extra without pushing it at all with good temps and a quiet cooler. $329 refurb with only a 1 year warranty though. Card looks brand new though.

Those gigabyte fans are pretty legit if you have a case that can muffle that sound.
