Hey guys, I checked my computer specs about 15 minutes ago and found that out of my 16GB of RAM installed, only 12GB shows up (CPU Z says 16GB but in triple channel; Task manager, bios and GeForce my rig says 12GB).

I also had a problem with it turning on, then off and then back on again upon boot and apparently people have said that it happens when their dimm slot 3 is faulty on other msi mobos.

I have everything in place, proper and everything. Wierd thing is, it showed 16GB last week. It is in dimm slot 3 and I have tried to:
- change ram locations,
- boot off one ram stick, then 2, then 3...
- install it in a different slot (though the screen doesn't display anything)...

I'm so confused and so close to RMA'ing' it. It's just so much hassle, since it was built about 1 1/2 months ago. I also want to say that it isn't down to the faulty ram and if I put it in slot 3, the pc still posts, it just doesn't recognize the extra 4GB.

I need help guys!

Solution
If all of your ram, when swapped around, still is not recognized only in slot 3 then try updating your bios if there is a new version. Some times the Bios needs to reread the hardware to recognize all the ram. Other ways it is a bad slot.
