Overclock FX-6300 on CX430M

I want to overclock my FX-6300 to 4 GHZ, I have the 212 EVO, and I bought a GIGABYTE GA-970A-D3P to be able to overclock (my old mobo had a 760g chipset)

my GPU is a GTX 960 EVGA SC, I only want to OC to 4 GHz, is it possible?

On a separate note, will the chipset upgrade increase performance at all?

Solution
I wouldn't try that if I were you. You might be able to get a stable overclock if you're careful, but the cx series is pretty awful all around. It's mainly meant for budget builds that won't get a ton more performance from overclocking. I'm not really sure whether or not anything bad would really happen if you tried, but a bad psu when pushed to the limit can have disastrous consequences. You might see gains of maybe 5fps at most in games if you oced, so if this is a gaming computer, I'm not sure if the risk is really worth the reward. The fx 6300 and gtx 960 is a pretty good combo as is, so it's not like your cpu is bottlenecking the gpu. So I wouldn't really suggest ocing with that psu. Everything else in your build would be perfect...

CX PSUs are not horrible power supplies. They are not the best either. They will run basic systems, and even with a little overclocking. They will not up and blowup like a generic psu. However I still do not recommend overclocking on a CX series PSU, you really want better capacitors for that. I'd look into an upgrade, on the PSU and MOBO. You wont get far on that chipset.

Whenever I get enough money I'll upgrade to a 600W PSU, room for future improvements. What manufacturer would you recommend?

I actually got this motherboard as a recommendation from Blackbird, best budget OC board. I'm waiting for this mobo to arrive, my current is a 760G but I'm getting the 970.
