Hello everyone,

So I'm building this PC for my aunt. To save money I offered her my old mobo and ordered all the other parts:

Motherboard: MSI Z87-G43
CPU: Intel Core i3-4160 Boxed
GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB (v1)
Case: Cooler Master Force 500
Monitor: Philips 223V5LSB Zwart
RAM: Kingston HyperX Fury black HX318C10FB/8
Optical drive: Asus DRW-24F1ST Zwart
PSU: Sharkoon WPM500 Bronze
SSD: Adata Premier SP550 240GB
(No HDD because she doesn't need much storage)

The old motherboard did work without any issues last time I used it. I replaced it because I wanted to run raid0 (stubborn me wanted 2 SSD's).

Now, when I press the power button, I can hear the PC's fans starting to spin (every single one) and I can hear the optical drive making sounds (and showing a working LED). Power LED of the case doesn't work though (the HDD LED won't light up either).

The Monitor goes into power saving mode because it won't detect a signal.

I've looked up the issue, but nothing worked as of yet. I tried all the RAM slots, I tried holding the power button while turning on the PSU. I checked if the CPU would get up to temp, thought I felt some heat but I'm not entirely sure.

I suspect it's a motherboard Issue, but I prefer to not bill my aunt unexpectedly.

Looking forward to your replies!

(Good to know, one of the first posts I've made, so some guidance if I did anything wrong is appreciated and I'm in the middle of starting exams. I have also build about 5 PC's before)

EDIT: Haven't been able to find any bent pins.

Do NOT use MSI Live Update to install the new BIOS! LU is notoriously unreliable and has bricked a lot of MSI MOBOs. The "M-Flash" function contained within the BIOS is less risky but has also been known to brick a few.

The safest method is to use the MSI HQ USB BIOS FLASH TOOL (LINK) This is a pure DOS program which will NOT brick your MOBO.

You will also need a Haswell (Non- Refresh) CPU, like your old i5 4670K, to install the BIOS update.
